We See the Leader in You

Our residency program provides a clear vision for your future as an ophthalmologist

If you can see your future as a field-leading ophthalmologist, the ophthalmology residency program at Sinai Hospital is for you. Centered in the renowned Krieger Eye Institute, our program gives you the tools and support you need to become a world-class ophthalmologist while confidently pursuing any career path in our field that you choose. In fact, approximately 50 percent of our residents choose to enter fellowship training –and just as many of our residents choose to enter a comprehensive ophthalmology practice directly from residency.

The Sinai Difference: Leaders Learn Here

When you come to Sinai Hospital, you become part of an ophthalmology residency program that combines the virtues of quality patient care and compassion, with the resources of a major community hospital.

Smaller Faculty: Resident Ratio

With only 3 new residents per year, our program gives you a level of individualized teaching and mentoring you won’t find anywhere else.

Unmatched Autonomy

Accounting for ~50% of your clinical time, our supervised Resident Clinic allows you to see your own patients and build a continuity of care with them.

Diverse Patient Population

As Maryland’s largest community teaching hospital, Sinai gives you unparalleled diversity in urban, suburban, and rural patient demographics.

Mission-Driven Care

Learn to advocate for patients with rotations at the VA Medical Center, as well as service opportunities in Haiti and with Health Care for the Homeless.

Sub-Specialty Expertise

Our full-time staff represents all major sub-specialties – from oculoplastics to uveitis – giving you the most comprehensive understanding of the field.

Supportive Culture

Our leaders are resident advocates, helping you fund your research goals, achieve a better work/life balance, and secure fellowships and job placements.
