As the first year of my presidency comes to an end, and with our successful Spring Fund-Raiser behind us, I now have time to reflect on this past year in the Auxiliary, and to look ahead for the year to come.
This year began with the installation of our new board, and with the reveal of the next phase of our Donor Wall. Members of the Auxiliary outdid themselves in baking a delicious array of desserts, and the wine flowed! As did the chocolate!
Although summer is a busy time for our members, life goes on at Levindale. We were able to entertain our residents with our Happy Hours, and help them cool off with refreshing snowball parties. Of course, almost every day, residents and their visitors were able to enjoy the sunshine in our delightful Sensory Garden.
Fall brought with it the Jewish High Holidays. The Auxiliary distributed children’s handmade New Year’s cards and many of them visited the residents. During Sukkot, the Auxiliary family members helped the Rabbi decorate the Sukkah.
In November, the Auxiliary held our first Paid-Up Membership Champagne Brunch. It was a wonderful opportunity for our members to see all of the changes that have occurred at Levindale, and to connect with fellow members of the Auxiliary.
When Chanukah arrived, we gave lovely gifts to every resident. Every woman received a colorful silk scarf, and every gentleman received an Auxiliary baseball cap.
Our winter this year was long, cold and icy. The Auxiliary helped to brighten the residents’ days by bar tending at several Happy Hours. We held a Purim party for the residents, and sponsored our annual Face to Face event - an interactive puppet show.
The highlight of our year was our Spring Fundraiser honoring Jason Blavatt. A wonderful evening at Woodholme Country Club included a cocktail hour, an exciting silent auction, dinner, and a fun trivia game presented by Charm City Trivia.
I am excited for the coming year. We will be starting early to plan numerous events, and to continue to work toward brightening and enhancing the lives of our residents.
I encourage all of you to participate in Auxiliary activities. Keep an eye out for further information!
Thank you all for a great year!
