I am Marcia Bornfriend and I cannot believe it is already eight months since I was installed as Levindale Auxiliary president. So many things have happened since May. Even more exciting, we have started to plan for our bi-annual fundraiser to be held in fall 2017. Esther Jacobson and Randy Melnick are the co- chairs for this important committee and we are thrilled to announce that our own Eve Vogelstein, past president, will be this year’s honoree. In the coming months we will be very busy working to make this fundraiser the best ever!
In October, Yael Schwarzenberger and Jen Erez were very busy coordinating and supervising children who created and designed enough Rosh Hashanah cards for all our residents. A week later, the same energetic families continued making decorations and hanging them in our Sukkah.
A good part of the Auxiliary's time this fall was spent planning our Paid-up Membership Champagne Brunch which was held in November. To see our membership come and share time together was very special. We also had a special performance by Dan Schoener, an amazing mentalist who had everyone wondering “how was he able to do that?”
Some of our 2016 end-of-the-year activities were co-sponsoring the Levindale holiday party with entertainment provided by the Freddie Stevens Trio on December 22nd. We gave a holiday gift to all our residents and Levindale staff, hosted another happy hour and lighted Chanukah candles with the residents on December 28th. We ended 2016 with a big bang!
As for 2017, we have started planning our Annual Face-To-Face event which brings our members and their families together with residents and their families to enjoy a day of fun and entertainment. We will keep you posted on the date for this special event.
We encourage you to mark your calendars for our spring and fall events as soon as they are announced. More than that, we hope you’ll get involved in helping us plan our exciting 2017 events.
Thank you for all that you do!
