Providing compassionate treatment to our youngest patients

The Herman & Walter Samuelson Children's Hospital at Sinai

Medicine with families in mind

The Herman & Walter Samuelson Children's Hospital at Sinai supports the very heart of the family-centered care philosophy. From pediatric medicine to expert care in specialties such as cancer, neurologic disorders, bowel disease and diabetes, the Samuelson Children's Hospital delivers individualized care focused on the family and patient. The family works alongside the clinical team to ensure the best outcomes for their child. Our cadre of compassionate experts offer advanced, specialized care, informed by their extensive knowledge and experience. Our staff, from admission to nursing to social work, cares deeply about the health and wellbeing of your child, treating your little one as if they were our own.

Family-centered care improves clinical outcomes for children and provides crucial support for families facing health challenges. That’s why we were among the first in the nation to allow parents to sleep at their child’s bedside in the PICU. Our family-centered approach to care emphasizes the importance of partnership between you and your child’s providers, ensuring your role as a valued member of the treatment team. Our dedicated physician group includes board-certified physicians, neonatologists and a hospitalist who all provide round-the-clock coverage. Our team’s many specialists work together to achieve the best possible outcome for each patient – an attitude we extend to your child’s pediatrician, who will be kept consistently up to date. For any other concerns, from education and home care to appointments, transportation and insurance, our team is readily available to help.

Because we understand the anxiety and uncertainty for both children and parents that comes with having a child in the hospital, we take the time to get to know each patient’s fears and anxieties as well as what makes them laugh and smile. The children’s hospital’s marine motifs help keep kids at ease, and regularly scheduled live feeds from the National Aquarium add even more wonder to the ocean-themed atmosphere. The facility also includes a learning resource room, playroom and much more.
